Power for a Bright Future
A Major Development Opportunity
The whole 40 acres of crops on our sustainable farm are fully irrigated. This is currently run by a solar system which has provided power for 3.5 years including the farm buildings where the WFA team live Monday to Friday.
Mid last year we were notified that it is now possible for electricity to be connected to the farm from a government electrical source 3 kms away. This will involve covering all the costs for the qualified electrical engineers, poles, cable and labour, it is an extensive job but one that would only need to be done once. This is a huge breakthrough and an answer to prayer, it’s a fundamental investment in the longevity and life of the sustainable farm project. After further research and lengthy chats with other avocado farmers in Tanzania having electricity as a permanent and stable power source is not negotiable, interestingly they all started out with solar and as the opportunity came they invested in electricity.
So here we find ourselves on this journey….As always we take a step of faith, share the story and open up the opportunity. This is the ‘long term bigger picture’ and electricity in itself may not appear directly linked to changing one person’s life but rather it will change and impact thousands of lives in future generations.
$64,000 AUD is needed and we’re already on our way!
